Week Thirteen Recap: Aries and Jaguars Win by Mercy Rule as Gap in Table Widens

This week Dodgers took on reigning champions Aries on Diamond One while Jaguars took on Spitfires on Diamond Two. Would the Jaguars or Dodgers be victorious in their final games of the season?

Spitfires vs Jaguars

Spitfires got off to a good start in this game, scoring 3 runs in the top of the first inning. The Jaguars responded with seven runs of their own and, after shutting out the Spitfires in the top second inning, score another 4 runs in the bottom of the second.

Spitfires would score a total of five runs over the third and fourth innings, a number the Jaguars matched in the third inning alone, while scoring a further six runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Spitfires couldn’t get on the board in the fifth inning and when the Jaguars scored a further six runs the game ended by mercy rule, 28-13.

Dodgers vs Aries

The previous Aries vs Dodgers fixture back in Week Six was forfeited game as the Dodgers were unable to field a legal team. This meant the teams had not played each other this year so the outcome would not necessarily be easy to predict.

Aries batted first and scored ten runs to start the game. After shutting the Dodgers out in the bottom of the first inning, Aries’ batting form continued as they scored twelve more runs in the top of the second inning.

The Dodgers scored one run in the bottom of the second inning and limited Aries to two runs in the top of the third inning. The Dodgers then scored two runs themselves in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 24-3.

After Aries scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning, Dodgers could only score another two runs and not prevent the loss by mercy rule, 29-9.
