SOFTBALL IS BACK!!!

BaseballSoftballUK released their Return to Play Plan on 29th July (revised on the 6th August) and, as such, the Swindon Softball League is back for what remains of Summer 2020! We will be arranging weekly sessions (possibly two per week if take-up is good) and these will be competitive non-league matches; great for learning the game and honing your skills!

Cost

Fees per session will be £5. This is to cover the costs of insurance, venues and equipment. The League will donate any remaining profit from these sessions to Brighter Futures – www.brighterfuturesgwh.nhs.com. Fees can be paid by bank transfer (prior to the game) to Swindon Softball League – Sort Code: 30-91-91; Account number: 42984568, or by cash upon arrival, though please note that we cannot give change.

We do not want cost to be a barrier to people playing softball in Swindon. If you have a genuine difficulty paying the proposed fees, please contact swindonsoftballfinance@gmail.com and alternative arrangements will be made. Please note that these conversations will be considered private and on a need-to-know basis.

Arrangements

To adhere to the Return to Play Plan we are required to have an accurate idea of who will be attending prior to the session occurring. Therefore, each week every person attending the session, including umpires and spectators must register beforehand. Please note that we are limited to thirty people attending a session. This week’s form https://form.jotform.com/202176797935065 is to register for Thursday 13th and/or Tuesday 18th of August. You must fill in this form by 09:00am on Wednesday 12th August to register successfully.

Thursday 13th August: Chiseldon Recreation Ground (SN4 0LP)

Tuesday 18th August: Nationwide Playing Grounds (SN3 1TX)

Start time will be 18:00 for both sessions.

Registration will have to be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, but we will make an effort to prioritise people who have missed-out due to attendance limits at the next opportunity. Please do not attend without registering and receiving confirmation.

Covid19

All people planning to attend a session must first read the Participant Code of Conduct. This can be found here (printed copies will also be available at the sessions). Please do not worry if much of what is described in the code of conduct is unfamiliar to you – there will be people at the sessions to help explain what is required.

Whilst we regret that our players must undertake such a formalised process to play, it is purely in the interest of the safety and well-being of ourselves and those we live and work with. To any new players considering joining us – please be reassured that these sessions will be ideal opportunities to learn the game in an informal setting and will not be reflective of the formal process required to sign-up!

Thanks for taking the time to read this; we look forward to seeing you on a field at last …
